Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers Perth

Conceal chips, cracks and stains with porcelain veneers

Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain bonded to your teeth for an enhanced, brightened appearance. It is a great treatment for:

  • Masking permanently stained teeth
  • Closing spaces between your teeth
  • Improving the appearance of damaged or broken teeth

The porcelain veneers treatment process

After the initial consultation at Access Dental Care in Perth, porcelain veneer treatment takes three appointments. Each veneer is custom-fabricated in a lab to match the shape and appearance of your natural teeth.

Appointment one

The first appointment is when your Access Dental Care dentist discusses your oral health and what your desired outcome is. If porcelain veneers can achieve your goal, an impression will be taken of your teeth and sent to the laboratory.

Appointment two

The second appointment is when your teeth are prepared for the veneers: this involves a small amount of enamel from the front of your tooth being removed. A temporary veneer will be placed while you wait for the more permanent ones to be fabricated.

Appointment three

The third appointment is when your temporary veneers are removed and your permanent ones bonded into place.

Porcelain veneers are only placed on the teeth in your smile zone. That is the top and bottom teeth visible when you smile.

Am I suitable for porcelain veneers?

The best way to know whether you are a suitable candidate for veneers treatment is to come in for a cosmetic assessment with the team at Access Dental Care. Patients must have adequate oral health before receiving this treatment.  We don’t want a weakened tooth to cause your veneers to fail a few weeks after placement. This means we need to treat any underlying issues before placement. This includes any cavities, infected teeth, abscesses etc.

It is also popular for our patients to receive teeth whitening before placing porcelain veneers. When we place veneers they are seamlessly matched to the colour of your surrounding teeth to ensure a natural finish. However, veneers are not affected by teeth whitening solutions as they are not made up of the same material as a natural tooth. This means if patients want to whiten their teeth at all in the future their seamlessly matched veneers will then likely look out of place.

Taking care of your porcelain veneers

If looked after properly your porcelain veneers can last a long time—usually up to 8-10 years. But it depends on how well you look after them. It is imperative you maintain optimal oral hygiene routine: brush and floss your teeth every day. As well as visit Access Dental Care in Perth every six months for a regular check-up. If you are someone who chews on pens we advise you cease this as it can shorten the lifespan on your veneers.
