Smile Bright. Smile Often.

Smile Bright. Smile Often.

Access Dental Care can help you achieve a healthier, brighter smile.

Everybody loves to smile – but what if you don’t feel confident in yours? Tooth discolouration is an all-too-common reason people might not feel like their smile is at its best. Tea, coffee, red wine, soft drink and smoking are all factors which can contribute to tooth discolouration; it can also be caused simply by ageing. So what should you do if you want to improve your smile? Access Dental Care can help; two excellent treatment options are teeth whitening and porcelain veneers.

Teeth Whitening

At your initial consultation with Access Dental Care, your dentist will conduct a scale and clean and assess the cause of your tooth discolouration. If the discolouration is purely cosmetic (that is, not caused by decay or infection), then whitening is an excellent treatment choice. At Access Dental Care we offer two teeth whitening options: in-office or take-home.

In-office whitening

Our in-office whitening treatment is a relatively quick and easy process that can make your teeth up to 8 shades whiter. The treatment begins with a rubber coating being applied to your gums, leaving your teeth exposed. Then, a special gel is applied to your teeth. This gel is then activated by a laser light. After one to two hours of exposure to the light, the gel and protective coating are removed, and you leave the office with a brighter, whiter smile.

Take-home whitening

A take-home whitening kit involves your dentist creating custom-made whitening trays, specifically for your teeth. At your initial consultation, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth to send to our lab, where your custom trays are made. At your next appointment, you’ll receive your trays and the dentist will take you through the whitening process. Results can usually be seen after a 2-week period. It’s important to note that take-home whitening is not a permanent option – you’ll need to take good care of your teeth and repeat the process after a year.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain bonded to your teeth. They can mask stains, cracks, and chips, and close gaps between teeth. To begin the process, your dentist at Access Dental Care will assess your oral health and determine your desired outcome. If veneers are the most viable option to achieve your goal, your dentist will take an impression of your teeth to send to the lab. Each veneer is custom-made to match the shape and appearance of your natural teeth.

At your next appointment, your teeth are prepared for veneers by having a small amount of enamel removed from the front of your tooth. Temporary veneers are placed while you wait for the permanent ones to arrive. At your final appointment, the temporary veneers are removed and the permanent ones are bonded into place.

Whitening or Veneers? Or both?

The great thing about these two treatment options is that they’re not mutually exclusive – you can combine them to achieve your brightest smile ever. The combination of whitening and veneers is an excellent choice if you have both stained and chipped teeth. First, you work with your dentist to get your teeth to your desired shade of white – then, when the impressions for your veneers are sent to the lab, your veneers are custom-made to match the new shade of your teeth.

So don’t put it off any longer – call Access Dental Care today and start down the path to a brighter, whiter smile.
