Are you looking to enhance your smile, by restoring the natural appearance of your teeth?
Veneers are a permanent natural-looking porcelain cover for the front of your teeth, a great cosmetic option for covering discolouration, misalignment, chips and gaps to enhance your smile.
The covers are custom made for you, and once ready, are bonded to your teeth.
Veneers are far less intrusive than crowns and braces.
What can veneers fix?
Veneers are both a cosmetic and functional fix, depending on the reasons for having veneers.
In general, veneers are a great way to fix the following problems:
- Worn-down teeth
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Misaligned, uneven or irregularly shaped teeth
How do veneers work?
The veneers process begins with an initial consultation, where we will perform a checkup and decide whether veneers are appropriate for your teeth.
We will make sure any other dental work required is finished prior to veneer treatment.
Once you are ready to begin your veneer treatment, you will have a small layer of your tooth removed, to make room for the veneer. Once the layer is removed, you will have impressions taken of your teeth which will be sent to the dental laboratory.
When your custom fitting veneers have been fabricated from the best porcelain, you will be called back into the dental office.
How are veneers applied?
The dentist will use bonding cement to permanently place the veneer over the front of each of your teeth.
By using this bonding cement, your porcelain veneers should not fall off.
Any rough spots immediately after having veneers applied is usually due to excess cement and will wear down shortly with eating and brushing. If not, you can have them smoothened out at the dentist.
How long do veneers last?
The number of years that porcelain veneers will last for you, depends on how well you look after them; just like natural teeth.
Although, typically your porcelain should last between 10 to 15 years, and even up to 20 years if you maintain a healthy, fresh mouth.
Can veneers ruin your teeth?
Absolutely not! Porcelain veneers are designed to fit perfectly over your natural tooth to enhance the appearance and to increase the functionality.
The bonding cement is also non-harmful to your teeth.
Can porcelain veneers stain?
Porcelain veneers are extremely difficult to stain and if they do end up stained, it will take a long time. The porcelain material is stain-resistant and extremely durable, making them harder than your natural tooth.
Other veneers, such as composite resin, however, do stain easier.
